I am using Windows XP Professional. When IE 6.0 is
launched, it brings me to my homepage, however it launches
Search-Company.com as well. I ran a Norton scan and it
detected 4 files that modify the Web browser's default
home page. The files detected are Adware.Winshow. Norton
removed 3 files but was unable to delete 1. The file is
msiesh.dll. Norton recommended (1) locate and delete the
file, which cannot be located, then (2) deleting the keys
from the registry, which also cannot be located. However,
the problem continues. I ran Norton scan again, it did not
find this file. The problem still exists. Technical
assistance is much needed and would sure be appreciated.

Hi,msiesh.dll is a variant of cool web shredder
http://www.pestpatrol.com/Search/SearchPestInfo.asp?
qu=msiesh.dll&sc=%2FPestInfo%2F&Action=Go

You can download a removal tool from the bottom site below
(CWS)
http://www.safer-networking.org/ Spybot
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html
http://www.lavasoft.de/ Ad-aware
http://www.merijn.org/downloads.html (CWS)cool web
shedder and hijack this

I'm glad to see that the biggies(Norton,Mcafee) are
getting into the anti-spyware biz however right now they
do a poor job. Use either ad-aware and/or spybot for this
also the CWS program is updated almost daily so be sure
to update it before you use it.

Thank you so much. It seems to have worked. Hopefully,
that will be the end of the problem. Thanks again.

Greetings --

To deal with issues caused by any sort of "adware" and/or
"spyware,"such as Gator, Comet Cursors, Xupiter, Bonzai Buddy, or
KaZaA, and their remnants, that you've deliberately (but without
understanding the consequences) installed, two products that are
quite effective (at finding and removing this type of scumware) are
Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search & Destroy from
www.safer-networking.org/. Both have free versions. It's even
possible to use SpyBot Search & Destroy to "immunize" your system
against most future intrusions. I use both and generally perform
manual scans every week or so to clean out cookies, etc.

Additionally, manual removal instructions for the most common
varieties of scumware are available here:
