Adware and Spyware won't die

I have an upstairs computer and downstairs computer, both connected by a
wireless Linksys router. I run Windows XP, SP-2 upstairs, and an upgrade of
Windows XP, SP-2, over Windows ME, downstairs (I know: I'd have rather had
a clean install of XP too, but the tech who installed for me didn't do that
and now I'm fighting it). Anyway, both computer have Norton Antivirus 2004,
and the upstairs also has Norton Firewall. Both computer have the most
recent versions of SpyHunter for Spyware, and, and Webroot's SpySweeper. No
matter how recent my updates on any of those software, and I've run from
Norton Foxtools such as FixSwen, FixSbigF, FixWelch, etc, I can't get rid of
two Adware and ten Spyware in both computers. Norton won't delete them, and
it won't or can't Quarantine them. I've gone to Norton's website,
downloaded the various FixTool, and none have helped. As stated, I've tried
several times with SpyHunter, and SpySweeper, and with Norton 2004, with the
most recent updates to get rid of these twelve pains-in-the-ass, but nothing
seems to work. Short of paying Norton $39 for some many minutes and issue,
I'm desperate to find a way to get rid of these two Adware and ten Spyware.
Can anyone suggest a way or help me?

I would not recommend using SpyHunter or SpySweeper.
Dump SpyHunter!!

SpyHunter is listed on the Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products & Web Sites

First. Make sure of these settings and nothing will install without you
answering YES. (Except what may install as part of some other software.)
Don't click YES if you don't know/trust the source.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Internet Options | Advanced tab |
Make sure both of these are NOT checked.

Enable Install On Demand (Internet Explorer)

components if a Web page needs them in order to display the page properly or
perform a particular task.]]

 Enable Install On Demand (Other)

Apply | OK

 Enable Install On Demand (Other)
Is part of the driveby downloading of unwanted programs. i.e. Scumware or
whatever will install w/o you even being aware of it.
