Administrator problems

Andrew S

I am having a problem deleting a program that is causing problems.

I keep getting the message that I do not have permission and must contact
the administrator.

Well there is no administrator it's my personal laptop.

My question is how do I gain control of my computer and get rid of the
administrator function since I am the only one to use the system?

Thanks in advance.

I would make sure your logged in as 'administrator'. If your all ready
logged in as administrator, try booting in safe mode and try to remove the
software.

How are you trying to "delete" this program? Usually you do this through
Control Panel-Programs and features. if you need Admin rights to do it, UAC
pops up asking for the Admin password.

NO. Do not hijack someone else's thread. Repost separately to get an answer. Thank you

Go in as Administrator when booting up. When the sign in screen comes on type in Administrator as User and leave the password field Blank

Remove your program and reboot changing back the Sign in screen to what you had along with your Password.

Using the computer as an Administrator is not a very good idea since you will be open for virus and malware attacks without UAC and other security suites which is disabled when using the system in that environment

Unable to log in as administrator when I boot up it only gives me the option
for my login.

You need to remove what is typed in there in the sign in screen and type in Administrator and no Password. Make sure you remember your sign in name and present password to put it back after

Unable to do that. All I have is the vista icon with my name under it and a
place for a password no other options are available for logging in as
anything else.

Do I need to set a user as administrator?

Thanks

Turning on the Administrator account is straightforward.

First, open an elevated command prompt by typing

cmd into the Search box on the Start menu, right-clicking

the command prompt icon that appears at the top of the

Start menu, then selecting Run as administrator .

Then enter this command and press Enter:

Net user administrator /active:yes

From now on, the Administrator account will appear as an

option on the Welcome screen, along with any user accounts

you may have set up. Use it like any other account. Be aware

that it won't have a password yet, so it's a good idea to set a

password for it.

If you want to disable the account and hide it, enter this

command at an elevated command prompt and press Enter:

Net user administrator /active:no

AutoLogon - Start - Search - netplwiz

Highlight User Name - Uncheck Users must enter a User Name and Password

Provide Password when prompted or hit enter if no password

Tried what you said to do several times, activated it didn't show, hid it
then activated it again doesn't show up, just my main login.

Any additional thoughts?

Thanks

If you have activated the hidden Admin account, did you go to Control
Panel/Admin Tools/Computer Management/Users and Groups/User and
right-clicked the Administrator account, Properties and un-checked
*Account Disabled* to make it show as an account you can use to login
with?

You might want to set a password at that time too for the account.

Thanks Jack,

No I didn't try that at first (didn't know I had to) when I did try it I
could not find Admin Tools in control panel. I did a search and found it but
can not find users and groups anywhere.

Any additional thoughts?

Thanks
