administrative privileges

There is one user on both my desktop and laptop - dennist685. How can I make
myself the administrator. The reason I ask is that when I try to upgrade an
Access database to sql server 2005, or create a new database in sql server
2005 I'm not allowed to do so because I don't have administrative privileges.

The same thing happens when I try certain things in asp.net 2.0.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You must logon as an administrator in order to elevate your user account to
that level. You cannot do it from within your own account.

Hi,

To access the default administrator account:

In WinXP Pro, hit ctrl+alt+delete twice at the logon screen and type it in.

In WinXP Home, you must restart and enter Safe mode by hitting F8 at
startup. The administrator logon will be one of the options.

Rick,

I did that but there was no place to type in anything (xp pro). There was a
choice to scroll to supervisor and log in as that. I though of asking here
first.

Hi,

"Supervisor" is not a standard account, is this your machine or one at work?
If it's a work system, then you need to check with your network admins.

Rick, I want to thank you for keeping with me. I'm away today, may 16 (I'm
here in Jerusalem). I'll try to get back home later in the afternoon, go
through my email, etc.,

I'm having problems upgrading my desktop to the server pack 3 on Microsoft
2000 Professional because of no administrative privileges. I bought my
computer from Ebay with Microsoft 2000 Professional already installed and
haven't had any problems until now when I tried to upgrade to server pack 3.
The computer originally was in an office setting, so maybe that's the
problem, but since I use it for home, I shouldn't be restricted from having
administrative privileges. I believe it has built-in administrative
privileges restriction. Please help someone.
