I know it has been answered but those did not help. I am NOT using that
computer. My sister in law gave me her old one because my husband's computer
died. And just needs one for the internet. So I got my sister inlaws, and she
has not used it in about a year. And she for got she needs a password to get
started. And she cannot remember what it is. Is there a way to get into it
with out haveing to reboot the whole computer? I am not even sure she has the
boot disc. Help.....

By "reboot" - one can only assume you do not mean the actual definition -
and you are thinking that means to wipe the contents of the computer and
start fresh. It does not. You reboot everytime you turn it off/turn it
back on. Depending on how you do that - could be a clean reboot or a dirty
one.

Anyway - that does not bode well for the instructions you'll need to try to
get into a machine you do not know any of the password for (maybe.)

Well, I would try to go into safe mode first. Hit the F8 key right after the
computer beeps, it should give you a black menu. Select safe mode. The you
can select Administrator. Normally it doesn't have a password on it. Then you
can go into the control panel under user accounts and remove the password

Enjoy

As you didn't reply to the (implied) other thread, I don't know whether you
are talking about a BIOS password or a User Password.
If a BIOS password, then just Google how to remove it.
If a User password, then I would offer the following comments:
Firstly, if I was in receipt of ANY second-hand machine I would want to
format the Hard disk and re-install the Operating System. Even from a
relative, you have no idea what is on it in terms of viruses, spyware etc.
it could be infected to the eyeballs. So format and re-install the OS.
Secondly I'm not sure what you mean by "boot disk". If by that you mean a
Windows CD, then under the terms of the licence, if Windows was
pre-installed, then your Sister in law must transfer the disk to you, with
the machine.
If it was a retail copy, then you need to buy another to be in compliance
with the EULA. (AFAIK).
