Adlogix and Safe Mode

Adlogix is detected by Spy Sweeper, but not MS
Anitspyware. Adlogix is removed by Spy Sweeper, but is
reinstalled anytime I start Internet Explorer. Adlogix
must open a portal as adware streams in when I use IE.
Spy Sweeper recommends running a scan in Safe Mode, but I
am unable to start in Safe Mode. I hit F8, select Safe
Mode at the Options screen, but Windows will not start in
Safe Mode. I have reinstalled Windows XP.

I have tried to send a report of potential spyware to
Microsoft but I get an error report of proxy problems and
the report is not sent.

Has anyone successfully submitted a report of spyware to
Micorsoft? Does anyone have suggestions on getting into
Safe Mode?

I replied to another message of yours.

Can you give more precise details about the error message you get when you
try to start in safe mode, using F8?

I recommend trying MSCONFIG's diagnostic mode startup, disconnecting from
the Internet if you use a third-party software firewall.

(and yes, I can submit those reports, but I've seen lots of machines that
cannot!)

It is the classic DOS black screen with white text
(similar to the Options page) and the messate starts with
something like "we appologize for the inconvenience, but
Windows did not start successfully. If you were running a
program ....." It then lists the various options, such as
Safe Mode, Start Windows Normally, etc.

I have considered reformatting drive C: and reloading
every thing, but am not sure exactly how to do that.

I've heard stories of people checking diagnostic startup
or safeboot when F8 wouldn't get them to safe mode that
resulted in a continuing loop of Windows not starting and
they were not able to get far enough to uncheck so they
could start normally.

Not something I've heard of. All the setting does is disable all
third-party services and some non-essential Microsoft services from startup.

In a disaster such as you mention, the recovery console has commands to
control service startup--you can enable and disable, etc, so that situation
should be recoverable from, but I'll admit that I'd be hard pressed to talk
someone through it.
