Adjusting the little yellow descriptive text box.

In Explorer a small box appears when the cursor is
allowed to hover over a file name, and this box
contains certain info.

Can the type and volume of information be
adjusted, and can this feature be turned off?

Also, sometimes I want to copy/paste this info
(e.g. to label a photo on the image), so can this
be done?

Please help, Frank

Frank,

You can change the 'Type' information for a particular extension. For
example, if you move your mouse over an 'Word' document with extension .doc,
the 'Type' area says Microsoft Word Document', This can be changed by
opening Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Scroll down
to the file's extension, in this case .doc. Highlight the DOC extension,
click 'Advanced'. You can change the 'Type' info in the 'Change Icon' box.
This is probably a bad example, other extensions have a lenghly sentence in
the spot (see .csv). Changing the Author & Title references are done from
the document's 'Properties' > Summary section, in this example, using
Winword.

Thanks, but I cannot find any of the text in the
"Summary" section of the Properties.

Also, how can I copy/paste the contents of the
little yellow box?

Regards Frank
