Address Bar NOT Working!

First of all, hello. "First time poster".

I am desperately looking for help. Out of nowhere, my computer will not let
me surf the net through my address bar. Cannot pull down the drop down
menus of sites, cannot manually type in an address. When I try, screen
freezes....BUT, I can surf through clicking on links in my Favorites and
navigate through pages internally. I have made sure all my Microsoft
updates are up to date, Scanned for viruses w/Norton and ran Windows
Defender and Malicious software scan....finding nothing. Has anyone ever
heard of this problem? Thanks.

First time poster as well and having the same problem, check out a couple of
posts below, from 4-14-06, that deal with this issue. Apparently there are
three options: remove the particular update that caused this, change values
in registry (one person tried and that didn't work), or remove some HP
printer, etc. software. Think I'll use option 1. Good Luck!

The same thing has happened to my computer. It seems that Microsoft updates
were automatically installed last night and one or some of them have a
problem.

Hi,
There is a posting on another thread that seems to have fixed this same
problem for me ( at least for the past hour or so). Go to control panel, and
click on add and remove programs. Click on box at top of page that says "show
updates". Scroll down to Windows and find security update KB908531. Click on
remove program and reboot.
