Address bar information

I understand how to clear the address bar through the registry keys
associated with "typed urls". After thses values have been cleared, if you
type the first couple of characters of a previously viewed site, a dropdown
list is displayed....Where are these values stored? Thanks

Hi Don :)

The URLs you're seeing are in the index.dat file in the History
folder. If you want to delete them see the following:

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm
will delete the History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will
be created when you restart.

or…. the History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/
should be able to clear the History and the index.dat file.
Just check the appropriate boxes and run it.

Removing some or all entries is an easy registry edit.

For an easier, safer removal method, go to
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
and download "DelTypedURL." This INF file will remove all entries.

This freeware program will remove some or all entries:

If you don't want to save the History see the following:

Autocomplete can be turned off from
Tools>Internet Options>Content>Autocomplete. Uncheck the boxes there.
