adding pictures, animation to bulleted list

Hello Helpful PPT group!
PPT 2003
I'm getting better at the animation editing and ordering, thanks to
advice from Glen and Echo. But I have a persistent problem:
Example:
I want to make a bulleted list and add some photos or video clips
between the bullets. I have been able to do that and order each to
enter and exit with the custom animation pane. But just recently, it
seems, I note that after I insert the first picture and give it its
animation orders, it stays there on my screen, making it impossible
for me to put more bulleted items in, or even see the first bulleted
item. How I can I temporarily get rid of the image so that I can
continue constructing the slide?
I'm thinking I could maybe do all the bulleted items first, and then
put in the pictures later, and then animate and reorder them all, but
that seems cumbersome.
There is probably a simple solution, but it's evading me now. Have I
got something set up wrong? It seems that I did not have this problem
before... but I'm a little foggy after all the time I've put into this
project recently. But I'm learning to love PPT, so I guess that's
good.
Many thanks for any help.

Jack,
I use a simple cheat: The grey area around the slides. I add my pictures to
the grey area and animate them as I need them. Then, when the rest of the
slide is set the way I want it, I drag each picture to where I want it on
the slide.

Will that work for what you need to do?

I'll give it a try. If it works for you, it should work for me too.
Many thanks, Kathy!

I also use Kathy's workaround, Jack.

Another possibility is Steve and Brian's PPTools Starter Set Plus. It has a
layer manager that would allow you to hide the pictures on the slide while
you build the rest of your bullets and then unhide them when you're ready.
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/starterset/index.html

The regular ol' Starter Set is free, the Starter Set Plus is $19.95.

Even if you don't want to do the Starter Set Plus thing, you *do* want to do
the free Starter Set thing!
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/starterset/index.html And the reason you
want to download and install the free Starter Set is because if you use the
"drag the pix off the edge of the slide until I'm ready for them" technique,
you can use the Hammer tool in the free Starter Set to quickly position the
pix on the slide when you're finished with the bullets. (And did I mention
it's free? <G>)

Thank you Kathy and Echo. I have downloaded Starterset and plan to
install it and upgrade to the "plus" version. But I have a
presentation due on Thursday and I'm afraid to get sidetracked too
much by working on it or even getting interested in it now. I'll post
my luck with the program later.
This is a very helpful group!

Yeah, I know that feeling. Kind of in the same boat here. Too busy to start
some new stuff because I don't yet have time to really play with it the way
I want to.

Anyway, when you get the Starter Set installed holler if you have trouble
using any of the tools.

Good luck with the Thursday presentation.
