PowerPoint 07 Animation Issue

I'm using PowerPoint 2007, I have bulleted text that I want to highlight in
color after the slide changes. I go into custom animation and use "brush on
color" everything works fine if it is set to go "on click" but since I want
it to go automatically I change it to "after previous" and the entire
sentence will highlight in color EXCEPT the first letter. I've pretty much
tried every possible change and it seems to only work if it's set to "on
click". Is anyone else having this problem? Give it a try....please tell me
I'm not crazy!

You're not crazy - it happens here too :)

Using 'change font colour' rather than 'brush on colour' doesn't exhibit the
same behaviour so perhaps that will do instead?

That's what I ended up doing. It just drives me crazy though because it just
didn't make any sense!
