Adding a Video to a PPT

I have powerpoint 2003 and I want to add an AVI file to a slide. The file
plays fine in Windows Media Player and every other video player that I have.
But when I insert the movie into Powerpoint, the audio plays but no video.
Any ideas?

PowerPoint does not use Windows Media Player. It relies directly on the
multimedia capabilities of Windows. To test, whether it can display your
film, click on the Start button and run the program mplay32.exe. If this
does not display your video, PowerPoint will not display it, too. Mostly
because it can't handle the codec.
