Well, I haven't been able to find anything. The only way I know how
to correct the problem is to manually assign a DisplayIcon path for
the uninstall program with an incorrect icon. I decided to E-mail
tech support for the game and here's what the rep said:

addressed by Microsoft so I do not have an answer for you. My

Windows XP Add / Remove Programs & incorrect icons
After installing Dark Age of Camelot Gold Edition, and the Trials of
Atlantis
expansion, some of the icons listed under Windows XP Pro SP1 Add or
Remove
Programs (uninstall list) have changed to the wrong icon. For
example, three of
the Windows Critical Updates are now showing the Trials of Atlantis
icon
instead of the default icon (monitor + CD-ROM package). Other
programs are still
showing the default icon or the correct icon, so only a few are
affected.
When I uninstall Trials of Atlantis, the icons go back to the previous
default
icon (correct icon). I realize this is merely a cosmetic issue, but
any ideas
as to why this is happening after installing DAOC? I have posted

messages and no one seems to know the answer. See

So as you can see according to the tech support for DAOC, this is a
known issue. I even tried deleting the uninstall keys using regedit.
Even after remove DAOC from the Add / Remove program listing, the
icons are still messed up. Therefore, I must conclude that there is
more to this than a negative sign somewhere messing things up. For
some reason Windows XP is assigning the wrong icon. I installed DAOC
on my notebook computer (Windows XP Home Edition) and the icons are
fine. Maybe because I had already installed the critical updates
before installing the game? No clue! Let me know if you can think of
anything else. Also, how can I report this as a bug to Microsoft?

Hi,
I understood exactly what you meant and what you are meaning now. Am
suggesting, messing with the other entries of the game to test. Note:
This
is not the first program to do this. However, in my testing it had to
do
with a - (negative) number. It would change other listed program
icons
as
well. Beings that find, changed all back to normal, I stopped
testing.
Perhaps, I shouldn't have.

What I meant to say is when I add a DisplayIcon path for the Dark
Age
of Camelot uninstall string, then the icons for the Windows Critical
Updates are still the wrong ones. Of course, if I add a DisplayIcon
path for the critical updates pointing to
[C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe], then the correct icon is
displayed.
Seems to me that somehow the installation of the game is messing up
some of the icons displayed for other uninstall strings. Mainly,
some
of the programs that normally use the default icon have switched to
using the DAOC icon instead. What's weird is that other programs
that
also use the default icon are not affected. So in other words, only
a
few of the programs have switched from using the default icon to the
game's icon. I will mess with it some more and see if I can figure
anything out. Again, if I uninstall the game then the icons go back
to the correct default icon. Thanks again!

you for your trial and error results and feedback. As for your
notes,
you
added a legit and safe displayicon path as to mean, one that works
normally
in your list without this distraction?
That said, have you tried rimming out things such as HelpTelephone?
If
not,
that is where I would take it from here. Good luck and keep us

thing happening. I am well aware of the problem with a negative
