Add printer problem

I have an HP 7410 attached to a XP Home computer. I also have a Vsta
Ultimate computer on which I am attempting to add the HP printer through the
network option. The Vista drivers have been added to the Vista computer.
I've tried every suggestion on this site with no success. Each time I can
see the XP printer but I get an error screen, "Windows cannot connect to the
printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000064a). Any help is
appreciated.

this error equates to

1610 ERROR_BAD_CONFIGURATION <--> No NTSTATUS matched

Can you add a "test" shared printer on the XP machine and verify that the
Vista machine can make the connection? Just use LPT1: and one of the HP
drivers available with both the XP and Vista OS.

I'm getting the exact same response while trying to connect an Epson Stylus
C60 printer in the same manner, right down to the exact error message. How
about some help please.

I stumbled onto a simple fix. On the "add printer" button I right clicked
the mouse and performed task as Administrator. Everything worked fine.
