Add or Remove Programs

In the add or remove programs window (currently installed programs), as I
scroll down, the list becomes blank with a black background after some
time. As I continue, the back ground changes colours. On further scrolling
down the listing resumes.

Also, am not able to uninstall MP3 dancer.

What is to be done ?

"Why does Add or Remove Programs show a large blank space?"

Find out if there is an error message and contact the software author or
the tech support.

Thank you for the reply. Will be reading ".. oldnewthing...".

You're certainly welcome.
Had in the mantime tried autocadaddremovefix after reading about
it via google, but it did not improve the situation.

You may want to use this script in order to find the culprit:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/utils/ -> List of VBScripts ->
"ARPNegCheck.vbs Lists all negative icon references in Add/Remove"

Ran the ARPNegCheck.vbs . It listed one item with negative reference.
Uninstalled that program. Ran ARPNegCheck.vbs once more, returned none with
negative reference. But the black spaces remained.

Managed to uninstall the MP3 dancer after running the mp3dancer.exe which
reinstalled the program.

Finally went in for a fresh install of operating system.

Thanks.

Actually, there was no need to uninstall that software. It's a matter of
seconds to modify that registry entry according to the first article.

Well, sometimes there is a reboot required. Rebooting is always a good
idea if an uninstallation or registry tweak does not fix the problem
instantly.

Okay.

Might have been sort of overkill (see above).

You're certainly welcome.
