Every time I scan with AdAware, I get the message: Windows must
restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated
unexpectedly. I am not online at the time, and have scanned for
viruses. I have checked Task Manager for Blaster. Nothing! Does
anyone else have a problem running AdAware on XP?

No. I use it all the time here and on clients' machines with no
problems. However, you do need to use more than one spyware removal
tool. Try running these additional tools:

Remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from
www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. B
sure
to update these programs before running them. These programs are free,
so run them both since they complement each other. It is best to run
antivirus and spyware removal tools in Safe Mode. You may also want to
run CWShredder and HijackThis from http://aumha.org/freeware.htm.
Although CWShredder is no longer being updated, it will still clean
older variants of the CoolWebSearch malware. Please read the
instructions carefully. Also, make sure you've visited Windows Update
and applied all security patches. Do not install driver updates from
Windows Update. Make sure you are running a firewall and have
current
antivirus installed using updated definitions.

To reiterate, it is very important that you update both Ad-aware and
Spybot to use their latest reference files and you need to scan i
Safe
Mode.

Malke, thank you very much for the advice. I shall take it. I neve
thought of running the antivirus or antispyware in safe mode.
Appreciate it!
