I set up a ad hoc peer to peer with a wireless usb on my desktop as the host
that connects to the internet and a wireless card in my laptop as the client.
I used the ics connection wizzard to set it up. The connection is good
between both computers, I can ping, print, file share from the client no
problem, however when I try to use internet explorer from the client it says
that it is detecting settings then I get the following opening page
http://auto.search.msn.com/response.asp?mt=www.yahoo.com&srch= cannot
find server internet explorer could not open the search page this happens on
every with site I put in the address bar. The firewalls are turned off.
Does anyone know what I can do to get passed this I am almost on the internet
from the client computer thanks for your help

On the client, run Internet Explorer, click Tools | Internet Options |
Connections | LAN Settings, and clear all of the boxes on that screen.

Turn the host's firewall back on! It's dangerous to connect to the
Internet without a firewall.

following: Downloading from
site:res://c:windows\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm every time on

I just Googled a bit on "res://c:windows\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm", and
found quite a few folks with your problem. It's apparently an LSP / Winsock
corruption problem:

You might do well to run a thorough spyware scan of the computer, concluding
with HijackThis and expert advice, if you haven't already done so.

Make sure that you have the ICS host IP address in the Gateway and DNS field
of the TCP/IP settings on the computer that cannot connect to the internet.
