I have had problems similar to this when I have had the dns, gc and the dc all on the same server. If you can try and move the dns server to another server and point your dc to this dns server.

Not sure if this will help but I would give it a try.

Hi! I have a w2k DC with that suddenly lost the DNS zones,
So event ID's 5774 (netlogon), 13562 (ntfrs), 4000 & 4001 (DNS) appears
in my event log. 'till here i'm fine.
the real trouble starts when i restart netlogon and begin to log evens
4013 (DNS) that tells me:

The DNS server was unable to open the Active Directory. This DNS
server is configured to use directory service information and can not
operate without access to the directory. The DNS server will wait for
the directory to start. If the DNS server is started but the
appropriate event has not been logged, then the DNS server is still
waiting for the directory to start.

then, when y go to DNS Console, the zone don't exist, so i try to
creat'em. BAAAAD it do not let me with this error:

the data on the primary sone failed to set
the active directory service is not avaiable

so i can't have an AD integrated DNS zone
it only lets me to create an primiry standard zone, but later i can't
make it AD integrated

the DC dns client is pointing to itself and the services running are
ok.

I would like to know how can i resolve the trouble with DNS saying
that's unable to open AD, and AD is unavailable.

i hope i've wrote clearly, sorry my english..
from now, thank you very much
regards
