ActiveX Objects Missing 2 when trying to use games

I've had this problem almost forever, and nothing I try fixes it. (they used
to work once on this computer and then one day suddenly stopped)

Everytime I try to play any of the Messenger Games I get the error message
"ActiveX Objects Missing 2".

I'm running XP Pro SP1 with ALL updates installed. I'm using Messenger
version 6.2 though I've also tried 6.1 and have the same problem.

The games appear to download and do appear in my "Downloaded Programs
Folder" but after they've downloaded Messenger comes up with the error
message. Some of the games, for example Solitaire play a nice sound that
gets you all excited into thinking it's worked ...... but hasn't :(

I've done almost everything that's been recomended on here;

Reinstalled Messenger about a billion times, using various versions from
various places.

Reinstalled XP

Checked that "Always ask me for my password when checking ....." is
unchecked.

Cleared temporary internet files, cleared cookies.

Prayed a bit

Messed with the security and privacy settings, including setting them to low
security.

Cried

It's not a router issue as it happens both at home and work with multiple
computers on each, all of which work.

I've tried multiple accounts

I'm completely and utterly stumped :(

Please help :(

Jonathon Kay recommended this procedure:

"Open up Internet Explorer to make sure that ActiveX is enabled. To do so,
open up any Internet Explorer window, click the Tools menu, then Internet
Options, click the Security tab, choose the Internet heading, and click
'Default Level'. After confirming you wish to do
this, click OK and then try the Messenger game again (you should be prompted
to download a component)."

Firewall maybe..?

I had the same problem as well...
Hunted forums for answers and nothing worked.
Turns out it was my Firewall settings.

Double check your personal Firewall privacy settings and remove any
rules it has set relative to MSN.

Close and reopen Messenger and try to start a game. You should get
a confirmation dialogue to permit or block activex controls.
Permit!

Well, that fixed it for me. Hope it works for at least some one else =)
