active x in signature?

In Outlook 2003 I make different signatures for each of my accounts. On
manually adding a signature I get an Outlook warning about adding active
x controls. The signature gets pasted and I see a small red square at
the start of the signature. I delete this before sending the email.

I do not have any vcard attached.

When making or editing a signature I may select advanced editing which
of course opens Word 2003 and an htm page.

Whats happening here and how can I stop active x message and the
embedded item?

I've seen this happen when smart tags are enabled in Word. It may be that
it's creating a smart tag. If you open the .htm signature file in Word, you
can check there and remove any created smart tag.
