Active Directory IMplementation

Hi

we are planning in place upgrade from NT4.0 to W2k3
Active directory. we wanted to change our NETBIOS domain
name but inp lace upgrade does not allow that. but we
would like to change at least the Active Directory domain
name (aka DNS domain name)from old.com to new1.new.co,
for this we plan for a parent domain as new.co( which
actually will be a dummy domain doing nothing a domain
place holder i call) then our actual NT4.0 domain old.com
has to be upgrade inplace upgrade to new1.new.com, is
this easily done and works fine or is there any
implications complications doing thsi kind of setup.

NetBios name can not be changed during upgrade, but if you plan to use only
Windows Server 2003 for AD, then you can leave your netbios name during
upgrade and rename domain using domain rename tool.
