Activation after BIOS flash

I recently flashed the BIOS of my OEM machine. Now when I try to logon it
forces an activation but does not accept the displayed Installation ID by
phone or net. All the data on maintaing pre-activation appears to be for "set
up" and my OEM disks will only allow a restore or boot to C: prompt.

Is there a process to activate to get around this?

What does your system manufacturer say when you ask them? (they are your
main line of support for all issues.)

Try the following:

1. Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode".
2. Go to Start > Run and type: %systemroot%\system32
then press the Enter key.
3. Locate these two files: wpa.dbl and wpa.bak
4. Rename the wpa.dbl file to wpaold.dbl and wpa.bak to wpaold.bak
5. Reboot your computer into Normal mode.

No joy. When I tried to activate the first time after your process it passed
me to a representative (that was a first) but I got cut off and every other
time I tried the activation it basically blew me off and hung up.

BTW, I could only find the .dbl fil, the .bak file did not exist.

Was the BIOS update from your computer manufacturer? If it wasn't then you
may have to get a different BIOS from the manufacturer. Some versions of
Windows are locked to a specific manufacturer's BIOS.

"we don't recommend........"
Exactly what don't they recommend and why?

Is the BIOS from your computer manufacturer? The motherboard manufacturer
may not be good enough.
If not that may be the problem and you may never be able to use that Windows
with that motherboard unless you get back to the correct BIOS.

Otherwise the OEM may be your only recourse since possibly something went
wrong with the BIOS flash.
Is the computer in warranty?
