Activating Jave on MS Internet Explorer 6.0x

I'm trying to use the chat feature of my Quicken software to communicate
with a support agent. I get a message telling me: "You need to activate Java
technology in your browser to use NetAgent - Java Customer Client."

When I go to Tools/Internet Options, I find a Java section with one entry;
"Use Java 2 v1.4.2 for <applet> (requires restart)". The box is checked. I
don't know what to do next.

Understand that because of a court decision Microsoft will stop all Java
support recommends that you use the Sun JRE.
