Acronis problem

My problem is with Acronic True Image but since I first heard of this
product on this newsgroup (all favorable reports), and because I've gotten
very little response from Acronis technical support, I thought I would look
here for help. In searching the Internet I found various references to
run list problems but nothing specific to Acronis.

Four months ago I installed Acronis True Image Home on my computer
(Win XP Home, SP3) and it was working fine until recently.
Now backups fail with an error message: "Operation with partition "2-0"
failed... Run list corrupted..." My last successful backup and validation
was on Friday 2/6. On Monday 2/9 backups failed. I believe I may have run
defrag on both my C and D drives (the backup data is stored on D) over that
weekend. I haven't noticed any other problems.

I contacted Acronis Technical Support via email. They first suggested I run
chkdsk but that didn't change anything. Then they ask me to download and run
a program which would analyze my system and create a report that I could
send them. This I did over three weeks ago but haven't heard from them
since.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Did you make the Boot Recovery CD? or do you have an original CD?
They both boot and I would try to verify a backup from those programs.
Not the one installed on your HD.
Those are untainted and might work better.

Acronis support is sloooooooooooooooooow.

I would suggest that you try uninstalling then reinstalling the
program. If there is an update, make sure to install that as well.

Download and install the latest version of Acronis and see what that does.
Even if it appears to be the same version that you have, Acronis are always
updating it in line with feedback that they have received. Their technical
support can be slow at times, but IME, they usually do respond eventually.

Are you making your image with the XP installed Tue Image or are you using
the Bootable CD. The latter can sometimes be more reliable though I know
that it can take longer, particularly over a USB connection.

* The problem persisted when Acronis run from original CD.
* Un- and reinstalling Acronis produced no joy.
* Downloading the latest version of Acronis is not practical as I have a
dialup internet connection.
* I found a post on the Acronis section of the Wilders Security Forums that
appeared to describe my problem and which led me to run chkdsk again,
something Acronis technical support initially recommended I do.
I discovered that I had not run chkdsk correctly, if at all.
After having done so, Acronis backups now run to completion.

The only problem now is that after having reinstalled Acronis I cannot view
the log window. Only a portion of one line is visible. Perhaps there's an
option or something that will correct that.

One remaining question: What corrupted the data on my C drive?

Thanks again for your help.
