A friend had a problem trying to install XP over Vista and it screwed up the Laptop.
Seems the BIOS will only see Vista in some laptops, hence you flatten it to take XP and it fails!!
U probably need to change the SATA mode in the bios.
XP doesn't natively support SATA and thus gives you a blue screen during install.
It wont even get to the stage where it takes additional drivers to show the SATA
