Accessing Devices with Removeable Storage

I run XP Home with SP2 and recently I have not been able to access any
removable storage devices from My Computer. Floppy drive shows A:\ is not
accessible - Incorrect function. Same with both my CD drives. Also Flash
Drive via USB. My camera just makes the PC reboot.

However, CD drives will work if a CD is in the drive when starting up. Also
will play audio via a player. And CD burner will work when opened by burner
software.

If PC is started up in "Safe Mode" everything works OK.

Can anyone help - have checked for viruses & spyware etc. Also have
reinstalled XP Home & it made no difference.

I have had the same problem and after using HijackThis
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn) have found that the problem lies
with Norton Anti Virus. I have removed Norton from the PC and all is
now working ok. I have installed AVAST as an alternative to Norton
(http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html)
