Access reports analysis in excel

I have just upgraded from Office Pro 2000 to Office Pro 2007.

I am used to exporting Access reports in print preview to excel for
analysis.

It seems to me that it no longer possible. I note that you can export
to a text file and then back into excel but that is a pain.

Is there no longer "the easy way" ?

Yes, the ability to export a report into Excel was removed in Access 2007,
probably because it never worked that well.

You can always export a query to Excel.

I've not had a problem with exporting reports to Excel, but I *do*
have a problem with removing the functionality from Access 2007. I
think it is a very bad omission, and the alternatives are inadequate
because I don't want users to poke around with underlying queries:
I've gone to a bit of trouble to hide this complexity from them.

Also, many of my report-based queries get their parameters from a user-
friendly Report Menu form which would have to be opened by the user
first for the queries to work.

Exporting to text would be an acceptable workaround, except it can't
export as tab or comma separated format! Importing as fixed text is a
real pain because I often can't see enough data to know where to place
column breaks, and that's a lot of clicking for each report which was
never needed before

If Microsoft has a rationale for removing this useful functionality,
I'd like to hear it. Their workarounds (see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934833) are not suited for end-users

I feel your pain. My clients have been instructed for years to use the
export of Access reports to Excel. Removing that function is causing a lot
of grief. I will instruct clients to be aware of this BIG problem before
upgrading to 2007. I have clients that want to go back to 2003 after
experiencing the pitfalls of 2007. MICROSOFT ARE YOU LISTENING?
