Access randomly closes

I have a high-speed Internet connection, use Windows XP, and have Microsoft
Office Professional 2002 installed. I use a database designed by my son to do
invoicing in my business. There are two computers working out of the
database. It worked fine until recently.

When I am working in the application, it randomly closes. I have tried
trouble-shooting the problem by shutting down one of the computers. This
didn't make a difference.

My son recently passed away so I am in the dark about the application. Any
ideas as to what may be the problem and how to fix it?

Thanks.

Dear Arima,

1. Internet connection is mentioned. Why? Are you using the database over
the internet?

2. How the database was built - Is it splitted into FrontEnd, BackEnd?

3. How big is it?

Perhaps you will need to compact and repair it (i think is under tools menu)
or perhaps it was corrapted - so, if you are lucky and have a good backup you
can create a new database and import all objects from the one you are
currently use.

Anyhow, please give us more details.

George is probably on the right track about it being a corruption issue.

Tony Toews has an excellent web page on database corruption.
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

Allen Brown also has excellent info on corruption.

I have a white paper in a Word document named Fix Corrupt Access Database
towards the bottom this page:

Also does this behavior happen on both computers or just one? If just one
there could be something wrong with that computer such as the install of
Microsoft Office or a connectivity problem to the database file.

Sorry about your son.

Thanks, Jerry. This may be more than I can handle myself. I'm only a user,
not a designer or maintenance person. It looks like it's over my head.
