Access domain at work/workgropup at home

Robert Frank

I just acquired laptop running Windows XP Professional.
At the office I am connected to a domain. At home, I want
to be able to share files between this new laptop and my
my mini-tower computer at home running XP Home Edition,
and to print from my XP Prof laptop to a printer connected
to a XP Home computer. I want to be able to "see" the XP
Home computers from my XP Prof laptop when I search for
the computer.

How do I do this without changing My Computer properties
on the laptop everytime I move from work to home? ? The
online help implies that my XP Prof laptopis either
a "domain" computer or a "workgroup" computer, but can't
be both.

Thanks

Hi Robert

The first is a link to a microsoft article about setting up alternative
configurations
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/networking/autoconfig.asp

Also, there are some applications that allow you to set up multiple
configurations for office/home. Ive not tried any of these.
eg SelectANet http://www.select-a-net.com

Do a google on "multiple network configuration" to look for more.
