Access Can't find file error message

B

Bill Thompson

I get this error message
"Cannot Find the File <Filepath\Filename.mdb> (or One of
Its Components)." Error Message While Opening .MDB File
from Windows Explorer
I researched it at Microsoft an did this fix

1.Run Windows Explorer.
2.On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3.Click the File Types tab.
4.In the Registered file types list, locate and then
select Microsoft Access Application. Click Advanced.
5. In the Actions list, click Open and then click Edit.
6. Click to clear the Use DDE option and then click OK.
7. In the Edit File Type dialog box, click OK.
8. In Folder Options, click Close.

I did all the above but the DDE option will not stay
unselected. When I close the dialog box and reopen it-the
DDE box is selected again

Anyone have an ideas or advise I would appreciate it

First the simple question, Is the file in the location
that you are trying to open it at. If it is, try
navigating to that location and opening it directly. I
have Office XP as well along that check box being checked
and haven't run into that problem. Have you run update
for your Office App?

If these aren't helpful, what is the following:
tmp files deleted?
Internet History Empty?
Hard Drive Size? If it is large, is it partitioned?
Have you run scan disk and disk defragmenter?
How much RAM do you have?
Is your system original or upgraded?
Does a restart ever fix the problem?
Have you tried creating a new database and importing all
objects and relationships?
Do you have software that can revert it back to a time
when it was working okay, or has it not worked.

If you need, you can contact me at

Just leave out the slashes.
