When creating a report using the wizard, fields and their label are always
connected. It make it very difficult to make changes and customize the report.
How can I disconnect this "connection"???? Please help? It drives me crazy!

Click the label and <Ctl-X> to cut the label to the clipboard. Now click on
the report section background and then <Ctl-V> to paste. The label will
reappear, but will no longer be attached to the control.

If you are adding a bunch of text boxes without attached
labels, add one, delete its label (and set Font, Height,
etc). Then use the Format menu - Set Control Defaults. Now
you can add the rest of the text boxes and they will have
the same properties as the first one.

The above did not work for me, and a much more effective way for me was to:
- Select both detail & page header rows of info (click in LH Margin, then shift-click in other LH Margin)
- Select 'Arrange' ribbon tab
- Click on 'Remove' [3rd from left for me ]in Control Layout section [2nd from left for me]
Bingo!
Headers can now be changed or deleted without losing fields.
Note: Deleting fields no longer results in auto-arrange (shifting left), but I'm happy to pay that price to stop other behaviour
