Access 2003 File Size Get Bigger and Bigger

Chlaris

Dear all,

I use Access 2003 to develop. The file format is Access 2002-2003.
I have a refresh link form. I run this form repeteadly.
I see the file size is getting bigger.
I do the same thing with Access 97, but the file size is fixed.
I can upload the MDB file if you want to check.
Is there any bug with Access 2003 ?
Please help. Thanks.

Have you compacted the database (under Database Utilities on the Tools
menu)?

Depending on what you're doing in your application, it's pretty common for
it to grow with use.

Hi Chlaris,

You might want to consider using the Access 2000 file format, instead of the
2002/2003 file format. Here's why I say this:

Database bloat is not stopped by compacting database with Access 2002 format

Here is a more complete listing of KB articles that deal with file bloat:

Hello,

I have compacted the database.
The application never stop growing.
Each time I run refresh link, the database will grow.
I can upload the file if you want to check.
Thanks.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your valuable information.
If I create Access 2000 file format, I can't create the MDE file because I
use Access 2003.
Thanks.
