Access 2000 mdb data network accessing

Hi everybody,

I've got a very big problem:

The access .mdb file containing the data tables resides on the NOVELL
network server.

I have to update (replace) it while the users are connected to it through
another mdb interface file (they only need to read the data)

The problem is that if at least one user has an interface's form opened,
Access creates an .ldb file and it's impossible to delete/replace the data
table .mdb file

I've tried already to set the "recordset type" property of the form to
"Snapshot" or to open the recordset from VB code with the option "Read-Only"
, the data file is blocked anyway.

Could anyone help me?

Thanks a lot in advance

Being on a Novell server doesn't really enter into this. You can't replace
an MDB file when it's in use. You have to wait until all users have
disconnected from the MDB before you'll be able to replace it.

Howewer there is not problem for the same file put on the Microsoft Server
2003 ?!
(We have another office over there that uses that kind of network).

The file is replaced without problem while the users are connected, in spite
of the fact that form's recordset type is "Dynamic".The users only have to
click on "Refresh" button to view the new data.

Just because it allows you to replace the file when it's in use (which
actually surprises no end!) doesn't mean it's a good idea. What happens if
one of your users is in the midst of doing an update? You could corrupt the
database.
