Acces denied mesg.

I am running Windows 2000 Professional . My PC is in
workgroup. It is an Stand alone PC . . When I click on
Start----Programe----Administrative tools--Local Security
policy--then it is NOT displaying the contents of Local
policies ---It is displaying a mesg that "Windows cannot
open the local policy database.

Access to database has been denied."

I am getting the same access mesg in Audit policy and
security option too.

Please note that I am login as an administrator.

You sure your not in a domain, or on a DC ?

Possibly your security database is corrupt. You might first try to reset your user
rights assignments back to default using secedit as described in the following KB
link. You could uses the /areas option to just try user rights first. Otherwise you
may need to rebuild your secedit.sdb file. --- Steve

Hey Rafiq,

I agree with the earlier post. You either need to set back to the defaults
or rebuild the local security database.

Another way to tell is go to Start, Run, type "gpedit.msc" (without
quotation marks) and press ENTER. If it gives the same errors, likely you
will need to follow 278316 to rebuild the local security database.
