Abit NF7-S & ATI 9800 Pro combo won't wake from S3

I've been using a Abit NF7-S v2 with an older Antec PP303x (300w)
power supply & Geforce 2 GTS video card with no issues in power
management, but since replacing the video with an ATI 9800 128MB Pro
my system now refuses to awaken 90% of the time from S3
(suspend-to-RAM), or it *will* awaken & go to my Windows XP (SP1)
desktop but the monitor stays in sleep mode, forcing a cold reboot.
Is this an inadequate PSU issue? Power managment is very important to
me so I hope this problem can be corrected. Also, the orange LED
indicating burning status on my CD-ReWriter is frequently always on
after a reboot where it didn't do this with the old Geforce 2. I just
ordered an Achieve AX500 PSU. Is there a good chance this will remedy
the problem or could it be an ATI 9800 Pro/NFS-7 issue or BIOS bug?
Thanks for any help.

Additional info:

AMD 2500XP (Barton, not overclocked)
1 stick of Crucial Technologies 512K PC3200 DDR.
2 CD-ReWriters
2 Maxtor 80GB harddrives
On-board Soundstorm audio
No extra PCI expansion cards are installed
Abit NF7-S BIOS is recent (the one dated 2020... heh)
System is not

Sounds more like crappy ATI drivers at work again than a power supply
problem, except for the optical drive light. Since you already have the PSU
on order, you might as well try it.

The 9800 Pro needs considerable amounts of juice.... very probably
your PSU can't take it anymore. Had the same, replaced the PSU..
problem solved ( next problem was overheating..sigh )

Hey, cool site! I'm using an Antec PP303 which I think is 330-watts,
and using the calculations on this web site, my recommended wattage
for the PSU is exactly 331 watts. Heh. Too close for comfort. One
thing that disturbs me though is that my optical drive's orange
burning LED perpetually stays on most of the time after a reboot.
Wonder what *that's* all about.

Update: it *was* the PSU, after all. Using a 500-watt Viomax
(Achieve) now and no problems with power management at all now.
Thanks for everyone's input.
