I think I read the specs right, but don't see a driver for the SATA 300mps
on
the installation CD? Or is it included in the SATA driver section???

Uh, yes, I would imagine the SATA driver is in the SATA driver section.

Does it even require a driver? XP will install a driver for SATA
connections. Then, after the OS is in place, when you install the
nForce driver package, it will give you an option to upgrade the
Microsoft driver with an nVidia IDE driver that gives better
benchmarks for SATA drives, at least on my system, than did the IDE
drivers that were installed by XP SP2.

If you want to install SATA RAID, you need to get that driver off the
Asus CD before installing XP (don't know how this would work with
Linux). If you run that CD on another computer, its opening screen
includes options to make RAID driver disks for each of the onboard
RAID controllers. Those floppies can then be used to feed the RAID
drivers to XP Setup.

I've looked for SATA RAID drivers at the Asus download site. The
Silicon Image driver is there, but it's over 15 MB -- nothing that
would fit on a floppy, but that download might include the ability to
make the floppy disk for XP installation.
