andrew

after writing many few sections in a word document, i
separated them with -----, then typed enter to make a
solid line across the page. the problem now is, i cannot
get rid of them. even when i cut sections and paste them
into another document they are still there. also, there
seems to formatting options to deal with this.

what can i do?
thanks.

To get rid of the ones that currently exist, select all the applicable
text, then from the menu, select Format->Borders and Shading. Either
select "None" or in the diagrammatic representation at the right,
click the line at the bottom of the picture to remove it.

To prevent this behaviour in future documents (should you want to do
so!), select Tools->AutoFormat->AutoFormat as you type, then uncheck
Borders.
