882c, router and XP Pro

Tom

I had ME on a desktop and Laptop with a d-link router
with a print server and an HP 882c everything was fine
then I got a new laptop with XP Pro and upgraded the
desktop to XP Pro also. Now I can't print through the
router. I hooked up the desktop with a USB cable and it
prints. I need to print from both machines. Any help is
greatly appreciated.

Go to Control Panel Printers and faxes File Server Properties
Ports tab Add Port Select Standard TCP/IP Port New Port
button Follow on-screen prompts.

That should do it. Next, add printer clear the box for auto-detection
follow on-screen prompts and select that port at the appropriate screen.

Let us know.

Sorry.

At what point does the procedure fail? Is a port set up but it has no
functionality when you try to print to it? Are there any error messages?

Go to Start Help and support type LPR port. This instructs on another
approach.
