5728 a no go!

I have installed both Beta 2 and RC1, but never had a BSOD. 5728 certainly
solved that problem! I installed 3 different ways and even tried a repair,
but it would never boot more than once. If Microsoft was getting
information from my installs, they certainly got a lot of data!!!

Back with 5600 and happy.

Did you remember to check the CRC or MD5 Hash?

Did you remember to Burn the DVD at 4X or Slower?

Details Please.

I may have found the problem, which seems to make sense in you remember that
the computer would only boot once before getting the Blue Screens. I
thought it might be the SATA hard drive, so I reinstalled it on an IDE drive
to check. Install went fine and it booted. I shutdown and rebooted and it
worked again.

I was installing some device drivers that were not installed originally, and
when I got the the modem (Zoom Fax) I got a Blue Screen when I tried to
reboot. Booted in Safe Mode and uninstalled the modem and the boot was once
again normal. Build 5600 seemed to have no problems with the modem, but
this one does.

The reason it happened before was I allowed Windows to update, which
installed the modem driver, but I couldn't tell which update was causing the
problem. Hence, it would only boot the first time and BSOD after that.

I've had absolutely no problems with Build 5728 on my Apple Intel iMac
17" machine. My 300GB HD is a Maxtor SATA-2, and causes no troubles,
though it seems to run a little hot (about 118F).

In fact, this build is running smooth and sweet. Seems much more
responsive than XP Pro.
