550 relaying to <name@???.com> prohibited by administrator

Phil

Since updating Outlook 2003 I keep getting "550 relaying
to <name@???.com> prohibited by administrator". I thought
it was originally some security setting which checked my
contacts to see if the address is in my contacts as some
email addresses work and some didn't. After adding them
into my contacts it seemed to work for a while and now
its intermittent. One day I would reply to the email and
its sends o.k. next time it fails with the above error
message. Other colleges in the office are not getting
this problem but they haven't updated outlook. I have
searched Microsoft knowledge base and they seem to point
to the ISP. If it was the ISP then other people in the
office would have the same problem. Anybody have any
solutions?

You need to set your account to authenticate on the server tab of your
account properties.

Hi Milly
Due to the problem I have tried 2 accounts the first is with BTClick our service provider and the 2nd with our companies commercial ISP who we rent the domain with. Both work sometimes and not others for me and the other guys in the office who do exactly the same thing do not have any problems at all. Why would it be intermittent for me and no one else. If I resend the email it will sometimes work and sometimes it can be upto 5 attempts before it goes
