Hi,

I have problem with my above modem. I have OS Windows 2000
Professional. Whenever, I start my machine and on the
desktop an error message appears "3cmlink has generated
error and restart program". I have uninstalled modem
restarted machine and installed modem again, checked in
Device Manager the property of modem, it is working
properly.

When i connect dialup another message appears Error 797: "
Modem could not find".

I have my modem 3COM U.S. Robotics Voice Internal PCI. On
the packing box of this modem Model 2884A is written. But
it is strange when I install it is different 3COM 56K
Voice Win Int and there is driver on CD under Windows 2000
folder 2884AW which it accept.

I mention here that it was working before, it is creating
problem last 2 days. During this period i have installed
windows 2000 professional on drive D: which later i
uninstalled.

Appreciate for help. Thanks

Manzoor

Try this!

Remove the drivers from the system and all mention of the
device from the registry.
shut down the pc, remove the modem from the pc.
power back up.

reinstall the drivers (get them from the website don't use
the microsoft drivers).

shut down the pc, physically install the modem.
power back up and see if that resolves the problem.
