2nd Request -- SCRIPT errors

G

Guest

I've been getting script error notices when I play Yahoo Hearts.
Yes--I have UNchecked "Disable Script Error Reporting" in Internet
Options. It's been unchecked for a few years.

Why are these errors showing up now, and how can I stop them?

Try installing IE6 SP1 right over the current installation. Make sure you disable you anti-virus before doing this.

Yabbut -- I've already got SP1 installed!

Repeating my problem:
I keep getting script errors when I play Yahoo hearts. It just
started yesterday. It gives me a bad headache. I have always kept
the options set to NOT report script errors.

What to do?

What you may have is a corrupt IE6 SP1 file that is causing these script errors. If you download it again, over your current installation, it may replace this damaged file with a good one. Give it a try, it won't hurt anything and it might fix your problem. Do you run Norton anti-virus by any chance?

Install the latest script see if it helps.

Microsoft's Scripting download
Get the latest. Two download versions are available for Windows Script 5.6.
The first version requires Windows 2000, XP; the second version requires
Microsoft Windows 98, Millenium Edition (Me), or NT 4.0.
Choose the download appropriate for your operating system.

After the worthy advice I received on my 2nd request, I followed
the suggestions: I installed IE6 SP1 over my existing IE6. I applied
all the rest of the updates that were waiting for me. I scanned with
about a zillion tools for malware. I defragged. I made sure the
settings in Internet Options were correct. I prayed.

I'm still getting script errors when I play Yahoo Hearts. And
Popup Stopper from Panicware has stopped working. I get popups. I've
played that game for a looooooooong time, and Popup Stopper worked
beautifully.

It doesn't happen only on Hearts. I get script errors only on
Hearts, but the Popup Stopper has quit working on all sites. These
two phenomena started at the same time.

So for my 3rd request -- what to do now to stop script errors and
to get Popup Stopper working again.

XP Home SP1, IE6 SP1, updated, etc. etc.

what to do now to stop script errors

Have you tried clearing the TIF or refreshing problem pages with Ctrl-F5?

Describe your symptoms better. E.g. do you have to doubleclick
on the Status bar icon to see the error message? Are there multiple
errors in the error window? (E.g. use Prev back to the first.)
What is the first error exactly?

Did you try this?

Common script errors messages can be eliminated by Clicking:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. 3. In the Internet Options
dialog box, click Advanced.
4. Click to select the Disable script debugging check box.
5. Click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check
box.
6. Click OK.
