2D Quality - Radeon 8500 vs. 9800 Pro

Can someone give me their opinion on the 2D quality of the Radeon 9800
Pro compared to the older 8500? Is it better, about the same, or worse
(probably not but I'm leaving the option open)? Thank you.

I thought my 9700 Pro and the 8500 were both quite good in image quality 2D
and 3D. Could see no difference even at 2048x1536 resolution. The 9700 Pro
is faster at 3D game and with good framerates and AA enabled there is a big
difference.
