2 x 4-pin 12V Connector on P5WD2

David

I'm looking at building a new computer using
the Asus P5WD2 motherboard. I noticed that has
a 2 x 4-pin 12V connector, but I think the
power supply I plan on using only has a single
4-pin 12V connector. It's the Antec SmartPower
2.0 400W.

Will the P5WD2 be completely stable with this
power supply if it only has the single 4-pin 12V
connector? I'll be building a low-end business
workstation with a 3GHz P4, low-end PCI-E graphics
card, and a single hard drive.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

"Question

I noticed that there is an extra 8-pin 12V connector on
P5WD2 Premium. What's it for?

Answer

The extra 8 pin 12V connetor is for future new CPU utilization.
For current CPUs, you can just plug 4-pin power cable to the
8-pin 12V connector. Since 8-pin 12V connector has a
direction-proof design, you don't need to worry about plugging
it in reverse direction. "
