2 NICs, how can I make 1 of them primary when I ping the local hostname

Here's my problem.

Some applications are binding to my second NIC. I don't
want it to do that. I want them to bind to my 1st NIC.

My windows 2000 server has for some reason chosen the 2nd
NIC as the primary. For example, when I ping the local
hostname, it replies back with the NIC I don't want it to.

Unfortunately, these applications are allowing windows to
decide which NIC is primary and they don't have the option
to bind to a particular ip address.

I know if I can make my server ping the first NIC when
doing a PING <LOCAL HOSTNAME>, it'll fix my problem.

Anyone know how to do this??

thanks,

Paul

Go into the your Network Connections Windows and then choose Advanced from
the top menu bar. In the next screen you will be able to modify the network
card binding order. This is a good way to predict the response since we will
(in most cases) respond with the first bound nic.
