1) Installed (2) new 120 Gig Hard Drives.
2) Started computer.
3) Systen BIOS reccognizes both drives at correct sizes.
4) Begin XP Pro install.
5) Install gets to the select partiion section.
6) Select Drive 0 and hit Enter.
7) XP Pro install responds with the follwing:
An error occured while setup was updating partition information on:
120mb Disk 0 on ID 0 on Bus 0 on atapi (MBR).
Setup can not continue. To quit setup, press F3.

Any ideas.

If they are SATA drives are you supplying the driver diskette when the
message appears at the bottom of the screen to press F6 to use a
manufacturer supplied driver? This is very early in phase one of the
installation.

Are you trying to use these drives as a RAID system? If not then try
temporarily disconnecting the second drive and installing with just
the one drive in the computer.

If that will not work then download the drive diagnostic utility for
your drives from the drive manufacturer's web site and test the drives
for problems. It is not unknown for new drives to be defective when
installed.

Colin Barnhorst

Just go with one drive for the installation. If the installation succeeds
but you experience problems after reconnecting the second drive, then make
sure your power supply is up to the task.
