2 HUGE .TMP files - To Delete or NOT Delete...that is the question

I have 2 HUGE .tmp files on my pc and need to create some badly needed disc
space SOON.

The files are:

C:\WINDOWS\Temp\hp2.tmp (7.6 GB)
and
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\hp2F.tmp (15.58 GB)

Can I delete these files or, at least, move them to my external hard drive
without it causing me major headaches?

Also, not sure if this has any bearing, but could the "hp" part of the the
file names have anything to do with the HP all-in-one
printer/copier/fax/scanner that I have connected to my machine?

Any help/advice/guidance would be GREATLY appreciated....thnx. Mark

If you Google search for those file names you will find plenty of similar
problems. Have a look here

Andrew,

No, I do mean GB. Yes, these are HUGE files, as I mentioned. It's causing
havoc on my client's pc as they are taking up way too much space which is
desperately needed at this point in time.

I think I will also follow up on another suggestion that was made to me and
Google these two file names to find out any other info that may be floating
around about these two issues. I also suspect that it may be wise to check
for an updated driver for my client's HP printer while I'm at it...

Thanks again for your input. I most likely will wind up deleting these files
as well, as you suggested.

Sincerely,
Mark DiRollo

Hey Leftred,

Thanks for the info. I've read the article you suggested and the suggestions
contained therein. Got some good leads on possibly fixes. One other gent
directed me to www.sysinternals.com and suggested I download their
filemon.exe file - which allows you to keep a real-time eye on which
applications use which files. I've done some reading on this file and it also
has some nifty filtering options so that you only get the relevant
information desired. And best of all, it's FREE! (can't argue with the
price...)

So, I suspect I will try this first. My gut intuition is that the printer
software/driver is responsible for the setting up and continued enlargement
of these temp folders. Hopefully I'll find out what the real culprit is and
be able to remedy the situaiton.

Thanks again for the info,
Mark
