19" LCD resolution

What is the best resolution for a 19" LCD monitor?
I'm dreaming about a samsung 19" but i'm concerned about it's 1280x1024 res,
is the same as a 17" (though the price is about 600$)

Do you think would be money saving going for a 17"?

Thanks
Eddy

The default resolution of 17 and 19" LCD monitors is 1280x1024. TFT monitors
look best at their native resolutions. Moving from a 17" to 19" model may
mean the inclusion of DVI input and speakers. The downside is response time.
It will actually increase with the 19" LCD. Not really a problem for
non-gamers. Best bet is to look at several models using both their native
resolutions and non-native resolutions; DVI input vs. VGA input, then make a
decision. Another consideration is warranty, in particular, dead or always
on pixels and sub-pixels.

1600x900 would be a great resolution for a 19" widescreen format, especially
if one could swivel the screen and go for 900x1600 as well. Of course I
don't want to think what it would cost.

Does anyone have a handy list of standard LCD resolutions - 4:3 and 16:9
ratios?

With lower budget I have found this one,
http://www.nfren.com/product/nf1800ma.htm

is a 18.1" with the same 1280x1024 res of the samsung SyncMaster 191T 19"
with a speakers and 15ms response time (the samsung has 25ms) the only
problem should be a lower contrast ratio (350:1 vs samsung 500:1) and the
DVI input.

the nfren spec says that it has "Analog/R.G.B., 0.7 Vp-p" and I dont' think
it's DVI...
