189 meg wav file!

T

Tom Hall

Today I was given a CD containing a 189 megabyte wav file which I am trying
to copy to my hard drive, but I'm not having much luck.

I can play the wav file on the CD using Windows Media Player, and I can
skip about in the file with WMP's slider and I hear audio output, but no
matter how I try to copy it to my hard drive, the operation fails.

The paging errors occur when I tried to use Nero to read the wav file on
the CD and write in WMA format to the hard drive.

The controller errors occur when I try to do a straight copy.

I used Nero's DriveSpeed to slow the drive down to 2X but the copy still
fails.

The copy seems to fail at 6%. Nero's encoding utility likewise fails at
about 6% of the file.

I have no problems with any other CDs or DVDs that I have. The DVD burner I
have is a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552U.

Is my problem with the disc or the drive?

Could be anything. 189MB is not a 'large' file - try copying it on another
machine with another CD/DVD drive and then get it on a thumb drive...
