1706 error

We have a small Access file sitting on machine #1 (Win2k)
in a shared folder. All users of machine 2 have full
access & privedldges to the folder. Machine #2(Win2k) has
three users and Administrator. Only "Administrator" can
open the database - the other users (with user privledges
only) get an "Error 1706. no valid source..." (All users
have full privledges to the folder)

Error 1706 calls for Office2000 SR1 disc2 - when disc2 is
loaded, nothing else happens. Upon canceling, we get the
messgae "This file has no program associated with it for
performing this action. Create an association..."

We know of Publisher 2K creating a conflict with Access
2K, so we uninstalled Publisher, but still get the 1706
error. Any suggestions? Thanx - David

I have seen Office 2000 do this if it is installed before the user accounts
are created. Try giving the other 3 accounts Admin privileges on the
computer, reinstall Office 2000, and open each office program in each
profile one time. Install the latest service pack for Office 2000 and open
each program again in each profile. Next, try setting the users' privileges
back to where you have them and see if everything still works.
